Painted Post NY- Pitching and hitting carried the Corning Hawks to their first ever win over the Elmira Express in the first ever game now that both districts have consolidated teams. Elmira started the scoring, plating a run in the first. The Hawks came back, riding the bat of catcher Megan Lewis who powered a two-run shot well beyond the leftfield fence.
Meanwhile, Quincy Lewis pitched her second complete game in as many days and retired 15 batters on strikeouts. She did, however, give up three homeruns, including two off the bat of Express first baseman Abbie Topping. Like her sister, Quincy Lewis also hit a pitch over the fence.According to "Q" she was just looking for a pitch to hit.
Corning Hawks Coach Mike Johnston was pleased with the team's effort following the 12-5 win vs Elmira.
