Ithaca NY- A much anticipated showdown between the top two boys lacrosse teams in Section IV played out Tuesday evening as the Corning Hawks met the Ithaca Little Red. Forget the chilly, blustery, rainy conditions, these teams came ready to play. Or, at least it seemed that way. Kyle Clarkson got the Hawks on the board first just over a minute into the game with an unassisted goal that delighted Corning fans. Little did they realize their cheers would be stifled until the waning moments of the first half. Between that time Ithaca would build a 7-2 lead by intermission, followed by a seven goal assault by game's end and finish with a 14-4 victory. During the game the Little Red seized every opportunity, taking control with a barrage of shots and goals and a blanket defense led by Senior Winston Wenham and outstanding Goalie play by Max Yavitt.Ithaca improves to 10-1 while Corning falls to 8-2. Both meet again Thursday May 3rd in Corning.
